Robot vacuums in Australia

Which robot vacuum suits your floors, pets and budget, and which specs are just marketing.

The specs that matter

Spec sheets are full of numbers. These are the ones that change how the robot works in your home, with the units to look for.

SuctionPa (pascals)
Higher helps on carpet and pet hair. Past about 5,000 Pa, brush design and airflow matter more than the headline number.
NavigationLiDAR · camera · gyro
LiDAR maps fast and works in the dark. Camera systems see socks and cords. Gyro-only models wander and can't do room-by-room.
Runtimeminutes
Around 150 minutes covers most family homes on one charge. Recharge-and-resume matters more than raw runtime.
Dockself-empty · mop wash
A self-empty dock means weeks between bin changes. Mop-wash docks add hot-water washing and drying but take up more floor space.
Heightmm
Measure under your couch and beds. Under 100 mm clears most Australian furniture.
NoisedB
Most sit between 55 and 70 dB on standard power. Dock emptying is the loudest part, usually 10 seconds.

Common questions

Are robot vacuums worth it for pet hair?

Yes, if they run daily. A robot that runs every day keeps shedding under control far better than a weekly stick-vac session. Look for rubber rollers so hair doesn't wrap.

Do I need a mopping robot?

On tiles and timber, a vacuum-mop combo saves a weekly job. On mostly carpet, skip the mop and put the money into suction and the dock.

Will it work on thick rugs?

Most handle low and medium pile. Shaggy rugs and tassels still trip them up, so set no-go zones in the app.
